Staying happy is the only way to build up your immune system. Don’t believe it? You can’t afford not to, the average human being breathes longer when laughing so go ahead, be happy and have a hearty laugh, it’ll make you look and feel like a million bucks ;)

  1. Drink water. Dehydration’s the main reason for feeling bad after indulging. Alcohol is a diuretic – it encourages your body to lose fluids. So before, during and after your “session” drink at least three pints of water.
  2. Before heading out, put a big bottle of water and some sliced fruit next to your bed. Later, every time you awake from a fitful sleep, take eight gulps of water and eat three slices of fruit. Stay sitting for the count of ten, then go back to sleep. Vitamins from the fruit pump antioxidants through you and sitting up briefly aids digestion and prevents acid reflux.
  3. A healthy breakfast is the quickest route to recovery. Try yogurt, fresh fruits such as oranges, cranberries and bananas, and porridge and honey. No matter how tempting a fry-up is, greasy fat and oil will churn up your insides and sit in your stomach, making you feel more sluggish.

The fundamentals of anti-aging

With increasing pressure on daily lives, more and more people in the world are showing signs of premature aging. The common symptoms of premature aging are excessive weight gain, depression, fatigue, insomnia and hair loss. I think that in India, we treat the symptoms without trying to identify the underlying causes. So, typically, we would see a victim of premature aging enrolling for a weight loss programme, taking sleeping pills or other symptomatic cures. And the real problem continues to grow because curing obesity and hair loss merely controls the symptoms.

Premature aging is a disease by itself and requires specific and specialized treatment. Anti-aging Medicine is a specialty and a field of scientific research, which is aimed at early detection, Prevention, Treatment and Reversal of age related decline in the quality of life. It is not merely anti-wrinkle or Geriatric Medicine but can be defined as wholesome approach to health, and of the general well being of the self.

One question which I am asked a lot of times is that what exactly is the anti-aging treatment? I believe that there are no ‘simple one-medicine-for-all’ solutions. Each case is different and requires customized treatments.

But if we speak in a broad sense, the anti-aging protocol identifies the stressor and modifies the perception and reaction to it through intensive counselling.
